- Thermocouple: Fine wire chrome/alumni thermocouple of approximately 0.5 mm diameter
- Temperature range: Ambient to 999°C
- Temperature control: Digital temperature controller having a resolution of 1°C. Accuracy within + 10°C for temperatures up to 750°C, and within + 15°C for temperatures above 750°C
- Timer: Digital timer of range 99.9 shaving a resolution of 0.1 s, with three displays and push button controls to indicate various times
- Depth of penetration of glow wire: Mechanically limited to 7 mm
